Ayres. —Another family in the northeastern section of the county is the Ayres family. Of this family the first known to the writer was the Rev. William Ayres, and two brothers, Darius and John, usually called Jack Ayres. Rev. William Ayres was a Baptist preacher; stood well among his clerical brethren, and was dearly beloved by the laity of his church; he married a Miss Shaw ; the fruits of the marriage were our esteemed fellow-citizens, Thomas W. Ayres and Enoch S. Ayres, and several daughters—three or four.
