!NOTES:"A History of Marion County, South Carolina", W. W. Sellers, 1902. pp 480-483 covers the Lewis family. An extract from pp 480-481:
"Lewis.-This family were from Ireland, and settled in Virginia. A son of this family, named William, came to South Carolina before the Revolution; he married Miss Mourning Vampelt, a Hollander. Tradition informs us that her father and she came from Holland together, leaving his family in Holland; they came, as it seems, prospecting, and got down into South Carolina, where they met up with William Lewis, and soon an attachment (mutual) sprang up between the two young people, and they got married; whereupon old man Vampelt went back to Holland for his family, and was never afterwards heard of. William Lewis settled in Horry County ; they had and raised seven sons and two daughters ; the sons were William, James, Isaac, Hardy, Joel, Jonathan and Patrick; the girls were Polly and Zilpha. Of these, Polly married Averitt Nichols, of Columbus County, N. C, and was the mother of the late venerable Averitt Nichols, of Nichols, S. C. The other daughter, Zilpha, married William Gerald, of Horry. Of the sons, Hardy, Joel and Jonathan settled in Marion County Hardy on Little Pee Dee, below Gilchrist's Bridge, Joel and Jonathan higher up the river, on the south side, near where Miller's Church now stands ; and James at Allen's Bridge." 		Lewis, Mary (I18788)

Isaac Townsend Skipper, 84, retired farmer of the Willow Springs section of Horry County, died at 11 p.m. Saturday at his home after a long illness. Funeral services were held at 10:30 am Monday in the Cools Springs Methodist Church, the Rev. L. P. Joyner, pastor of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Conway, and the Rev. A.W. Sanders Jr., pastor of Cool Springs Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery, directed by Goldfinch Funeral Home. Active pallbearers were Jimmy Skipper, Leonard Skipper, Harold Skipper, Donald Skipper, Joe Skipper Jr., and Gene Skipper. Mr. Skipper was born in the Cool Springs section of Horry County June 12, 1876, a son of the late Arthur Crawford and Kate Campbell Skipper. He had lived and farmed in the Willow Springs section for the last 28 years. He was twice married. Surviving his marriage to the late Mrs. Martha Ann Spears Skipper, who died in 1938, are four sons, Joe P. Skipper, Raleigh NC, E. P. Skipper, Cool Springs, Lloyd Skipper and James E. Skipper and James E. Skipper both of Rt. 2 Conway; a daughter, Mrs. Don C. Jordan, Rt. 3 Conway. Surviving the second marriage are the widow, Mrs. Effie Cannon Hardwick Skipper; a son Isaac T. Skipper Jr., and a daughter, Mrs. Jennings Chestnut, both of Rt. 2 Conway. Also surviving are two step sons, John Albert Hardwick, Norfolk VA, and Amos Lloyd Hardwick, High Point NC; 12 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and two step grandchildren.

Katie R. Le Gette, 89 years old, met face to face with her Savior on July 29, 2012. She was the daughter of George Harry Richardson, Sr. and Patty Bell Flowers Richardson. She was born in Marion County, SC. She was predeceased by her husband, Grady Le Gette and her son, Stephen Le Gette. Katie Le Gette was a devoted Christian and attended Surfside Baptist Church for many years. She was a long time member of Ariel Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Kathryn Elaine Le Gette of Garden City, two brothers, Traywick Earl Richardson of Myrtle Beach, Davis Monroe (Buck) Richardson of Marion and one sister, Alma Louise Jenkins of Florence. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Eric Stephen Le Gette of Myrtle Beach, Elizabeth Anne Le Gette of Garden City and Tavia Anne Le Gette of Georgia. She is also survived by three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel in Murrells Inlet at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 1, 2012 with Rev. Don Turner presiding. Burial will follow immediately at Ariel Baptist Church in Mullins, SC. Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. 		Richardson, Katie (I48736)
