77324 !NOTES:I have a theory that fits, but far from proven. Anyone reading this let me know if you have information to confirm or refute my theory:

Theory:Agnes Cathey (name only known from 1794 Land entry) is the same person as Nancy Cathey mother of Jincy Cathey.
1. The names "Nancy" and "Agnes" were often used interchangably in those days.
2. This would be mean she was a single mother, not a widow. We have precendent for this because her sister Isabella was a single mother as well.
3. I can't prove that Nancy of 1850 Ripley Co., IN and Agnes are the same person, but it makes sense based on the limited records I've seen, plus the lack of evidence for any Cathey Nancy could have been married to. Further, I posit that she is also the mother of Silas M. Cathey who married into the same Gordon family as Jincy (their first cousins, actually).

- PERRITT.-Another numerous family of the county is the Perritt family. Of the old Perritts, there were four brothers known to the writer, viz: David, Joseph, Jesse and John.

David only has left posterity; he married a Miss Smith, a sister of old Mr. Hugh Smith, and he in turn married a sister of David Perritt (this latter is according to information, may be wrong). The old man Perritt raised a family, mostly sons, David B., Needham, William, Bennett, Jesse, John E. and Asa, and one daughter, if no more. David B. Perritt married Miss Martha Edwards, daughter of the late Rev. David Edwards, and by her had several children, sons and daughters; and they in turn have perpetuated the name and connections to a second and, perhaps, third generation, and of whom the writer knows nothing. Needham Perritt married a Miss Moody, sister of the late Joshua W. Moody, a man highly esteemed for his many good qualities and noble traits of character. Needham Perritt is dead ; he left a considerable family, sons and daughters, and they (the children) have become fathers and mothers, and extending down to another generation or more. William Perritt married a Miss Carmichael, daughter of the late Dugald C. Carmichael, of Buck Swamp and Maiden Down; William Perritt is dead, and left a son, Morgan, and three daughters, who, it is supposed, are among the present inhabitants of the country, unknown to the writer. Bennett Perritt married a Miss Powers, sister of our esteemed fellow-citizen, Mitchell Powers; he raised a family, about whom the writer knows but little ; one daughter married James Sanderson, who has been dead for years ; his widow still lives, and. has raised her family respectably, and is said to be doing well; she has two sons grown; one daughter married Hugh Price, a prosperous citizen in that neighborhood ; he has a family, about whom the writer knows nothing. Another daughter married Frank Huggins ; he and she have both left the country, and their whereabouts unknown. If Bennett Perritt had any sons, it is unknown to the writer. Jesse Perritt, another son of old David, the writer has not been able to get anything concerning him ; whom he married and whether he had any family or not, is unascertainable ; it is said that he is dead. Another son of old David Perritt is our very worthy fellow-citizen, John E. Perritt ; he married, first, a Miss Campbell, a' daughter of the late Wm. S. Campbell, and raised a large and respectable family, mostly daughters, and two sons, A. J. A. Perritt and Arvington Perritt. A. J. A. Perritt moved to Darlington County some years ago, and since he has been there has held several positions of honor and trust, to wit : County Superintendent of Education, Representative in the State Legislature and a member of the State Constitutional Convention, all of which positions he has filled with credit to himself and satistory to his constituents ; he married a daughter of the late Rev. John W. Murray, of the South Carolina Conference of the Methodist Church, South. Arvington Perritt left the county a single man and went to Texas ; nothing further is known of him. Of John E. Perritt's daughters, one married our excellent fellow-citizen, Jerry Lambert; another married W. C. - Both boys were born in GA. Fannin Co., GA borders Hot House Township of Cherokee Co., NC and there were Stewarts there, including in the bordering township, also called Hot House. I can't tie Jacob and Robin to any of those.

- Jacob was 10 in 1870, so might be an infant for the 1860 census, but I found no Jacob Stewart/Stuart in 1860 that could be him in Fannin Co., GA or anywhere else.

- Why were they living with William Waldroop and Caroline? Caroline is just barely old enough to perhaps be their parents. If her age of 23 is accurate, she would be about 13 when Jacob Stewart was born. Was she married to a Stewart who died after 1862, then she married Waldroop before 1870? Or is she not their mother but perhaps an older sister?

- I was unable to find William Waldroop (c1852 GA) in 1860 or 1880, though I did find several of that name, but none I could conclusively say was the same man from 1870. I didn't find Caroline Waldroop in 1880.

- I was unable to find Rachel Waldroop (c1857 GA) in 1860 or 1880.

- These Stewarts may be connected to whatever Stewart married Jane Sutherland Stewart who was just 7 houses away in 1870. She was apparently widowed then with a daughter Mary age 9 (c1861). Jane was still in Cherokee with her parents in 1880.
