!NOTES:I have no solid proof that Elizabeth was Samuel's wife, but she fits for a few reasons (and doesn't fit for at least one reason):
(1) Samuel's wife is otherwise unidentified, and Elizabeth's husband is otherwise unidentified.
(2) Samuel died in the 1820's, and Elizabeth appears on the 1830 census with the same neighbors Samuel had, thus showing they lived in the same specific area.
(3) Elizabeth fits age-wise with Samuel's apparent wife from 1800 and 1820. She does NOT fit with Samuel's 1810 census entry, but census errors like this are common.
(4) Elizabeth, or someone her age, is with Samuel Jr in 1840. Samuel Jr is a likely, but unproven, son of Samuel Sr.
(*) None of the above is conclusive proof, but compelling circumstantial evidence in my opinion.;

Cons:
1. The name "Hannah" was not used among the early Sams in William's family as far as I've seen. However, it was used in the Edward Sams family.
2. I've seen no actual proof that Hannah Callahan Dobbins was a Sams. What is the proof of her maiden name?
3. Others list her birth as ca 1768, but census analysis shows 1770/1775 which means she is young enough to be a grandchild of William and Mary instead of their own child;

!NOTES:In the Will of her father, George Cathey, Ann was listed as "Ann Moore". The Will is now lost, unfortunately, but was cited in an 1812 deed regarding 2,500 acres in Tennessee that he willed to his daughters Violet Cathey, Esther Cathey and "Ann Moore."
We now that Esther married John Reed ca 1790/1792, and that Ann was married to Alexander Neill around that same period, thus George must have written his Will ca 1790, perhaps in preperation for one of his trips to Tennessee on the chance he might not return. This is supported by the surnames of Esther and Ann as cited as they don't match their surnames when George died ca 1812. He apparently never updated his Will.
