Mr. Skipper was retired from Russell Stover's Candy as a cook and was also served in the Army National Guard. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Marion Church of God. Burial will follow at Palmetto Memorial Gardens, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends Monday, February 28, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Skipper was born in Marion, a daughter of the late Alva G. Campbell and Gertrude Turner Campbell. She is also predeceased by a son, James Randall Skipper, daughter-in-law, Reitha Skipper, and a grandson, Scottie Horne. Mrs. Skipper was a graduate of Marion High School. She was Head Quality Checker at Sara Lee Hosiery, where she worked for 30 years. She was a member of Marion Church of God. Surviving are her husband, Willie Joe Skipper of the home; son, Joseph "Joey" Skipper of Marion, SC; daughters, Norma Wygand (Jack) of New Bern, NC, and Jo Horne (Gregg) of Marion, SC; brothers, Freddie Campbell (Lisa) of Marion, SC and Billy Campbell of Marion, SC; sisters, Marie McIntyre (Al) of Marion, SC and Faye Grant (Alan) of Marion, SC; and grandchildren, Maddie, Ali, and Erin. She was affectionately known as "Mema" to her grandchildren who were "Mema's Angels". Our Allen died in 1865, long before writer was born (1886). Allen C. Johnson married one of Meshack's daughters (Alice) who wasn't mentioned in article. Author might have assumed "Uncle Allen" was son of Meshack instead of son in law. That would mean our Allen W. Johnson not part of this family.
