!COURT: 1 May 1823 Wilson Co, TN Robert Neill, Complt vs. George Cathey et al (long list of heirs).
William Neil, complainants father sometime in the month of Oct 1783 gave to George Cathey L65 10s, 6p to securing land in Western Country, now state of TN. Obtained 640a with William Campbell on 26 Jun 1795 grant was issued on south side of Cumberland River on Spencers Creek.

William Neil gave to his son John Niel the above tract who sold it to brother Robert Neill.

William Cathey and George Cathey, sons of George, and his executors, conveyed said land to John Neil. Violet Cathey on of the daughters of George Cathey, decd, and John Reed who married Esther another of the daughters, executed a deed of relinq.

Alexander Neil and James Neil, brothers to the complainant dated 24 Aug 1819 relinq all their rights to the land. Another deed of relinq dated 1 aug 1821 John Neil, James Neil, Sarah Neil, John Plumley, William Plumley, Archibald Plumley, Jacob Howes, Hannah Howes, Benjamin Howes, and William Howes.

"That George Cathey, Violet Cathey, Jane Adkins, Samuel Lusk and his wife Betsy, Benjamin Burgen and his wife Mary are the children & heirs of said George Cathey decd. that George Patton, John Logan and his wife Rebecca are grand children of said George Cathey Senr decd. by his daughter Margaret who intermarried with Elija Paton and who are both deceased. Also Robert Cain & Daniel Cain are grand children of said George decd by his daughter Elizabeth who intermarrired first with Robert Cain, also James Reed grand child of said George decd by his daughter Elizabeth by her second husband Robert Reed, the same Robert Cain, Robert Reed and Elizabeth being now all dead. Also Robert Patton and his wife Rebecca who is a daughter of said George decd. John Reed and his wife Esther, who is also a daughter of said George decd. Also Andrew Neil and his wife Mary the said Andrew being a son of William Neil decd. and his wife Mary a daughter of said George decd. Also Robert Gillespie and his wife Anne grnad daughter of said George decd. by his son William Cathey and George Cathey, James Cathey, and Andrew Cathey and William Mahafy and his wife Betsey grand sons and daughter of said George deceased by his son William Cathey now decd.

1. Samuel Pack (c1790-aft 1870).
2. Jeremiah Pack (c1796)
3. Jane Pack (c1803-aft 1860) m James Henderson.
4. Thomas Pack (c1804-aft 1870).
5. Unknown Pack who married Rebecca Henderson.
6. William Pack (1810/20).

Reason 1. Samuel Pack was bondsman for Jane Pack's 1818 marriage in Sumner Co., TN, which was a long way from home. It makes sense for him to perform this duty if he was her older brother.

Reason 2. Thomas Pack was near Jane Pack Henderson over many years in different counties. She named one of her sons Thomas, perhaps in his honor.

Reason 3. Rebecca Henderson was a sister of James Henderson, Jane Pack's husband. It was common for siblings to marry siblings, though of course that isn't enough to prove that Rebecca's Mr. Pack was actually a sibling of Jane, Samuel, and Thomas, but I suspect so at the moment.

Reason 4. Jeremiah Pack was in Rutherford NC, Sumner TN, McMinn Co., TN with Thomas Pack, James Henderson and William Henderson, as well as John Pack Sr in 1830, and in 1850 Cherokee Co., NC near Thomas Pack.

Reason 5. William was in McMinn Co., TN in 1840, though after his possible siblings had all left.; 		Pack, John (I111284)

On 22 Jul 1794 James Cullens obtained a marriage bond in Cabarrus Co, NC to marry Abbaja Stuart.

A researcher (who's name I can't locate at the moment) states that the above is actually Olivia Stewart, child of Thomas Stewart who died 1778 in Mecklenburg Co, NC, and that they later moved to Dallas Co, AL. I haven't attempted to confirm or refute this information yet. She listed James' name as "Callen".

This family is listed on the LDS Ancestral File with James Callen dying 20 Feb 1842 in Dallas Co, AL. His wife is given there as Olivia H. Stewart born 1762, died 18 Jul 1846 Dallas Co, AL, child of Thomas Stewart and Catherine Allen. Submitter was Jerry L. Smith. I've not been in contact with Mr. Smith. 		Stewart, Olivia (I89158)
