  • Notes
    • !NOTES:I (Marty Grant) am not related to this person as far as I know. However, I am interested in all Davis families in western North Carolina to some extent.
      * I am interested in Burke County Davis families through 1860.;

      !NOTES:Some old family histories list Socco or Socro as a child of William Davis and Frances Carpenter of Three Mile Creek. However, this isn't correct. She wasn't named in William's will nor estate records, nor was David, nor have any other records been found associating them. One exception for something connecting them is the 1840 census where David is listed in the same general area of Yancey County as William Davis.
      * I have DNA matches with 8 descendants of David Oak(e)s and Socro Davis. Is she related to William after all? (11/9/2019)
      * I'm theorizing that she is probably a child of William Davis's 1st wife, Mary Miller born after she and William separated. This would explain why we have DNA matches with her because Mary Miller Davis is also a blood relative;
